Quebecs offers a 24 hour Reception facility available to assist guests with making restaurant reservations, arranging for spa appointments, recommending night life hot spots, booking transportation, the purchasing of tickets to special events and tours of local attractions.

The hotel additionally offers daily house newspapers, luggage assistance and storage, fax and photocopying facilities. The hotel has both wired and wireless internet access in all rooms. Wireless internet access is additonally available in all public areas.

Check in is from 3pm and check out is at 12 noon. There is a lift to all floors.

The Gallery

Overlooking the grand oak staircase, lit by five tall stained-glass windows which include the arms, crests and seals of five Yorkshire towns and villages, The Gallery provides a beautiful backdrop for guests who wish to enjoy a relaxing evening apéritif.

Full English and Continental Breakfast is served daily in The Conservatory, located on the fourth floor, between the following times:

To enhance your hotel experience we offer our guests complimentary access to enjoy the facilities of this premium health club located a five minute walk away. With a fantastic range of state of the art facilities and contemporary work out regimes you cannot fail to enjoy this Club. Services available include a Gym, Exercise Classes, Yoga & Pilates, and Swimming Pool & Spa. The health club does not permit entry to under 18s, however the hotel will endeavour to arrange access to a local health club for under 18s accompanied by an adult, please contact the hotel to arrange this in advance of your stay.

Quebecs hotel provides an ideal base from which to discover Leeds and the regional attractions of York, the spa town of Harrogate and the stunning natural beauty of The Dales.

Leeds offers a variety of attractions to suit all ages and budgets including the Royal Armouries Museum home to Britain’s national collection of arms and armour, Abbey House Museum and Kirkstall Abbey where you can wander the recreated Victorian Streets and experience life in the 19th century and Harewood House, an exquisite house steeped with Royal memorabilia, grand master paintings, Chippendale furniture and constantly changing exhibitions.

For arts and culture there are numerous offerings from theatre, opera, ballet and music. Leeds Grand Theatre is home to Opera North and is the performing home of Northern Ballet. It regularly stages West End and Broadway musicals, dance, drama, concerts, comedy acts and internationally renowned productions. Other venues centrally located include the Phoenix Dance Theatre, West Yorkshire Playhouse and Leeds Art Gallery which has one of the UK’s best collections of contemporary British art.

One of the UK’s top ten retail destinations, Quebecs is only a five minute walk from the prestigious Victoria Quarter famed as Leeds’ luxury shopping destination, nicknamed the “Knightsbridge of the North”, with luxury brands such as Louis Vitton, Vivienne Westwood and Mulberry, and a broad selection of specialist independent retailers and numerous department stores including Harvey Nichols, House of Fraser and Trinity Shopping area.

A few streets away from Quebecs is the renowned Greek Street and Park Row intersection which provides a diverse range of options for eating and drinking including well-known brands and independent eateries.

Access Statement

This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to Quebecs suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests.

Introduction

The hotel is situated on a flat approach. Being in the centre of the city we are just a 5 minute walk from the main attractions, shops, restaurants and cafes. We have 43 guest rooms with three accessible en suite bedrooms suitable for wheelchair users situated on the second, third and fourth floor next to the lift. One of these rooms is interconnected to a non-adapted guest room. The en-suite bathrooms of the three accessible bedrooms all have a level entry shower with handrails fitted throughout.

There is parking on site for seven cars approx 150 yards from the main entrance. The car park surface is tarmac with a public paved footpath path leading to the main entrance. The car park is lit at night. Blue Badge parking is not available however we would reserve a space for a Blue Badge Holder from the check in time. Parking is charged to all guests at £20 overnight. Additional parking is available at a negotiated rate to Quebecs guests at Q-Park Sovereign Square, which has designated Disabled parking spaces and Electric charging points.

There are nine steps leading to the main entrance. There is no handrail. The main entrance door is manual, 66 inches wide, medium weight to push and opens inwards. We have a porter service available 24 hours a day to assist with your luggage.

Reception

The Reception is on the ground floor and has level access throughout. The floor surface throughout the lobby is short pile carpet with a central rug. The area is evenly and well lit with overhead lighting and wall lights. The lift to all floors is located off the reception area.

The check-in desk is low. A pen and pad of paper are available on request. There is a choice of seating in the lobby area, which can be used as an alternative space for check-in.

A familiarisation tour is available on request.

Bedrooms

The three accessible en suite bedrooms suitable for wheelchair users are situated on the second, third and fourth floor next to the lift. One of these rooms is interconnected to a non-adapted guest room suitable for a personal assistant/carer or friend/family member. The rooms can be reached via step free access from the main entrance. The rooms provide specific facilities for guests with disabilities, these include:

All entry doors are 33.5 inches wide, light and easy to open.

Furniture can be removed or rearranged in the room if requested.

A put up bed for use by a personal assistant/carer or friend/family member can be available in each of the two bedrooms that do not have an adjoining room if required.

In each room there is a transfer space of at least 47 inches on one side of the bed.

The height of the beds from the floor to the top of the mattress is 30 inches.

Rooms are bright and evenly lit. Overhead and wall lighting is used. There are also bedside and table lamps in each room.

These, and all other bedrooms in the hotel, are marked with numbers or names. Each has good colour contrast between the floor, walls and doors, short pile carpet, widescreen digital television with remote control and subtitles.

A mobile hearing loop, vibrating pillow pad and alarm clock with flashing light are available on request.

Bathrooms

All of the three accessible bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms providing specific facilities for guests with

disabilities, these include:

Entrance doors are 35.5 inches wide and easy to open.

Level entry showers.

The toilet height is 18 inches.

The wash basin height is 33 inches, with clear space underneath.

Grab rails, horizontal and vertical, are fitted around the bathroom.

Lever taps are fitted on the washbasin.

Well lit with overhead lights and a spot light over mirror.

Good colour contrast between the doors, floor and walls.

The flooring is non-slip tile.

Shower seats are available on request.

All other bathrooms have the same lighting, lever taps, floor fitting and good colour contrast as above. However, the shower is not always stand alone and is over the bath in some guest rooms.

Public Areas

All public areas, halls, stairs, landings and lifts, are well lit using a combination of ceiling and wall lights. Corridors are at least 47 inches wide and the floor covering is short pile carpet. There is one lift off the main reception with tactile buttons. There is a mirror on the back of the lift, the sides are finished in wood and the floor is carpet. There is a rail on one side.

The Gallery lounge area is situated on the second floor with access via the lift. The lounge door is 33.5 inches wide. The area has a mixture of seating with sofas and soft chairs with arms, together with low coffee tables. Lighting is overhead and wall lighting used as well as table lamps around the area. The flooring is short pile carpet. The In Room Dining menu and drinks can be served in The Gallery. The nearest public toilet is on the third floor and is not accessible.

Breakfast Room

Breakfast is served in The Conservatory situated on the 4th floor. The Conservatory has three steps from the corridor to the entrance and a narrow passageway. The room has level access throughout. Tables in the restaurant are well spaced apart, with a clear height from the floor of 26 inches. Lighting is natural daylight with overhead and wall lighting. The flooring is wooden. We do our best to cater for any dietary requirements; please contact us in advance with any specific requests. Breakfast is a combination of table service and self-service buffet; however, staff can assist on request. The nearest public toilet is located on the third floor and is not accessible. Complimentary room service breakfast is available to guests who have difficulty accessing The Conservatory.

Conference and Meeting Room

The main meeting room is The Oak Room located on the 3rd floor. The room can be accessed via a flight of stairs with several landings or by the lift. The room has level access throughout. The door is 39 inches wide. The room has limited natural lighting. Upright chairs with arms are in use. Tables have a clear space of 28 inches from the floor. The flooring is short pile carpet. The nearest public toilet is on the same floor and is not accessible.

Additional Information

All of our staff receive regular training that includes disability awareness training.

We have a set of evacuation procedures if you should require assistance someone will come to your room and help you with evacuation out of the building.

Room service is available 24 hours.

Clear signage is used throughout the hotel using large yellow letters on a purple background.

The nearest general hospital with an A&E unit and walk in NHS facility is Leeds General Infirmary less than 1 mile away. The nearest doctors surgery is One Medicare @ The Light less than 1 mile away.
